October General Meeting
Meeting was called to order at 7pm by Irma Uyeda and Ruth Westra.
Attendees: Debbie
Haluch, Ginny Honaker (Visitor), Ellie O’Connor, Mike Owens, Alma Rielly, Ann
Sansbury, Dale Smothers, Irma Uyeda and Ruth Westra.
Speaker: Tricia Bradbury, Board Member of Houston Federation Garden Club, gave a talk on Indoor Gardening. Her tips and techniques included plants for pets.
Minutes – September 13 Meeting Minutes –we dispensed with reading of the minutes. Motion was made by Dale Smothers and seconded by Ellie O’Connor
Old Business:

New officers were introduced = Ruth Westra
and Irma Uyeda (Co-presidents) and Tracy Walker (Secretary/Treasurer)
· Mike
Owens announced that six new bricks have arrived and will be installed in the
garden soon.
· Irma
announced the standing committee chairmen and confirmed they will be taking the
same position tis year.
· Debbie
spoke about volunteer opportunities with Brookwood and her recent experience as
a volunteer.
· Ann
announced the clean up day for both gardens (11/6) and the fall planting of the
gardens (11/13). Both will be at 9:00.
· Ruth
gave out a flyer and spoke about upcoming gardening events an sales in our
area.
Tips:
·
Plant herbs such as cilantro, dill, fennel
and parsley. Seed quick growing cool weather vegetables such as carrots,
radish, lettuce, kale, broccoli, and spinach.
·
Don’t forget to plant wildflower seeds
including blue bonnets this month
·
Plant any new trees and shrubs you want to
grow in the following years.
