March 10 monthly meeting

President, Beverly Allen, called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. at the home of Billie Fontana.

Tom and Mechelle Thomas of Jodi Lynn Circle were announced as February’s Yard of the Month winners.

Those in attendance included: Bev and Larry Allen, Billie Fontana, Jennifer Buchert, Sandra Gilbert, Norma Chiaramonte, Bonnie Segura, Marcia Elise, Ann Wiseman, Kathie Corbett, Marcia Mausolf, John and Gigi Marenco, and Gabriella, Julianna, and Genna.

A motion was made and seconded to dispense of the reading of the minutes.

Business: Bev discussed various garden club initiatives and asked for ideas for upcoming seasonal tours. There was possible interest in a visit to the Antique Rose Emporium in April.

The CCLGC will set up an information table at the neighborhood Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 13 from 1-5 p.m. This will allow community members to sign up for the Junior Gardener event in May.

Sandra will be collecting final brick order forms and at the April meeting.

Billie Fontana demonstrated how to create visually appealing tablescapes using organic materials and items found easily in neighborhood shops. She provided fish as door prizes.

Gardening tip of the month: “In an effort to avoid grassy weeds like Crabgrass later in the spring, put out pre-emergent herbicides right now. You will also need to apply again in May.” Randy Lemmon, 1001 Garden Line Questions with Randy Lemmon.
