§ Bonnie Buhl gave the Gardening Tips for March: A few tips to get the most impact from your
color beds:
When planting beds that will be viewed at a distance, choose large swaths
of color for the greatest impact.
Mixtures of many colors are interesting when viewed up close, but as you
move away, they tend to blend into one another.
A riot of color around the patio or along the walkway can be very
effective.
