A great success!
For the past six years, our community outreach event is held Saturday prior to Mother’s Day weekend.
Our objective is to provide a
personal and creative gardening experience for children of all ages.
Our local Volunteer Fire Department readily
supports the event by coming out with a fire truck and rescue vehicles,
allowing all to climb on board. They spend time talking with the kids and
answering questions. It is a fun and interactive experience.
The overall venue is set up in various stations. In addition to having fun, we
strive to provide an educational experience as well.
Ann Sansbury,
set up an informational Vermicomposting display that created interest and
excitement! Showing the steps of
composting various organic materials, adding red wiggler worms, and ending with
a rich and fertile compost. What kid
doesn’t love worms!
