Have you noticed that your terra-cotta pots have a yucky while film on the sides? This is actually hard water deposits. Heloise says that you should use some dish soap and a hard bristle ploastic scrub bruch and give the planter a through cleaning -- inside and out! Be sure you rinse to remove all soap reside. Then, using full-strenght vinegar, wipe the entire pot until all of the whie mineral deposits have dissolved. Let completely dry before planting in it again.
