A motion was made and seconded to dispense of the reading of the minutes.

Business: Bev discussed various garden club initiatives and thanked club members for a great first year as president. The Junior Gardener event was a huge success. More than 40 children participated in the event, which is an increase from last year. Jennifer collected receipts for reimbursement. A huge thank you to Mike Owens for securing the Exelon Company grant. It made it possible for the garden club to enhance this community program.

Sandra will be placing the brick order soon, and installation details are forthcoming.

Plants have been ordered for the butterfly garden, and Helen will communicate details regarding planting.

Loris Garrett, member of the American Hemerocallis Society, presented a variety of daylilies and shared tips for caring and cultivating the plants. He welcomed club members to visit his personal garden, which is an AHS certified garden.

Thank you to Ann for scheduling our speakers this year!

Thank you to Sandra for being hostess this month!

Gardening tip of the month: “Start looking for powdery mildew on crepe myrtles. Fungicides like Kocide, Consan, Mancozeb or any fungicide will work. Organically, neem oil and Actinovate have shown great results in the past few years.” Randy Lemmon, 1001 Garden Line Questions with Randy Lemmon.

The next meeting will be Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Cypress Creek Lakes community center.

May 3rd Jr Gardeners Mother's Day Plant

CCL garden club members grew, purchased and made a variety of features assembled by neighborhood kids to create a "fairy garden" potted plants for their mothers.

40 fabulous creations were made and by smiling kids who enjoyed themselves.  We are sure their mothers enjoyed them the following Sunday, Mother's Day.
