President,
Beverly Allen, called the meeting to order at 7 p.m. at the Cypress Creek Lakes
Community Center.
Those in
attendance included: Bev and Larry Allen, Jennifer Buchert, Sandra Gilbert, Norma
Chiaramonte, Bonnie Segura, Ann Wiseman, Marcia Mausolf, John Marenco,
Gabriella, Julianna, and Genna, Debbie
Haluch and Helen Lombardo.
A motion
was made and seconded to dispense of the reading of the minutes.
Business:
Bev discussed various garden club initiatives and thanked club members for a
great first year as president. The Junior Gardener event was a huge success.
More than 40 children participated in the event, which is an increase from last
year. Jennifer collected receipts for reimbursement. A huge thank you to Mike
Owens for securing the Exelon Company grant. It made it possible for the garden
club to enhance this community program.
Sandra
will be placing the brick order soon, and installation details are forthcoming.
Plants
have been ordered for the butterfly garden, and Helen will communicate details
regarding planting.
Loris
Garrett, member of the American Hemerocallis Society, presented a variety of
daylilies and shared tips for caring and cultivating the plants. He welcomed
club members to visit his personal garden, which is an AHS certified garden.
